Regulatory compliance

Degree or diploma granting higher education institutions in India need to comply to regulatory norms defined by various regulatory bodies like All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Bar Council of India (BCI), University Grants Commission (UGC), Medical Council of India (MCI) and to other rules and laws defined by the State in which they are located.

Upcoming institutions seem to struggle with balancing the need to comply with rules and norms specified by regulatory bodies and their aspirations to be innovative,

Our approach:
  • Build a shared understanding of the nuances of the laws and regulations that may govern the institution and how non-compliance may impact the reputation of the institution
  • Work towards compliances from day one and not as a reaction to notices or investigation from the regulatory agencies
  • Involve top experts from our network who have guided higher education policy in different capacities in India
Our services:
  • At the concept stage:
    • Ensure that the project plan factors the costs and implications of compliance on matters of manpower, infrastructure, academic planning
    • Facilitate a common understanding among all team members (founders, infrastructure, academic, finance, marketing, admissions and administration) about how various regulatory provisions could impact different aspects of the project

  • During development phase:
    • Engage with different regulatory bodies to secure clearances like letter of intent, academic committee reviews, infrastructure committee reviews and final approval and recognition
    • Keep an oversight on all aspects of the project development so that there is no violation on any account
    • Develop the first Statutes and Ordinances that will guide the operations of the institution
    • Help the core academic team in creating the overarching regulatory structure within the institution driven by key Bodies like Academic Council, Governing Body, Board of Management and so on
    • Support the administrative departments in creation of administrative committees, their policies and processes like Examination, Appraisals, Fee management, Grievance Redressal, Committee against Sexual Harassment, Quality Assurance and so on

  • Once the institution has gone live:
    • Organize internal audit on matters of compliance across different departments and guide the implementation of the recommendations
    • Hand-hold a thorough preparation for higher level of accreditation and compliances that are required on completion of a certain number of years of operation like University Grants Commission (UGC) , National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)
    • Guide the implementation of critical academic and administrative policies
